Visit to the London Zoo
I left Notting Hill early this morning for
Mottingham, to pick up Katarina and Amy to go to the London Zoo. We had planned
to visit the zoo last summer, but tried to do too much in one day, and missed
the zoo hours by about 30 minutes. I had promised Amy this visit to the zoo,
and Katarina really loved getting out of the house! (And her full-time carer, Steven,
got a break for a few hours.) Since last year, Katarina has been disabled with a
partial paralysis, confining her to a wheelchair and a hospital bed downstairs
in the living room. Getting around London in a wheelchair is a bit of a
challenge. It helps to use an occasional taxi as not all the Tube stations have
lifts from the trains to the street!
Joshua was going to meet us
there, but didn’t realize how long it would take for us to get there, and we
missed each other at the zoo. So the three of us enjoyed as much of the zoo as
we could with intermittent rain!
We had a great time anyway! Then
Joshua agreed to meet us at Euston Station to eat, and then went back to
Mottingham with us.
In the evening, Joshua needed to
do laundry and get ready to leave Sunday morning for Glasgow. I waited till
Saturday morning to do my laundry.
